Mushroom Smothered Ostrich Burgers
Ostrich is a unique ingredient in that even though it’s a foul you cook and treat it like it’s beef. This is a simple easy recipe for Mushroom Smothered patties that you could easily be cooking with ground beef.
With a combination of great taste and healthiness, ostrich is one of the best meats there is. You may not think of largest bird in this manner, but you’ll find the taste of ostrich very similar to that of prime beef. Lower in calories, cholesterol and fat than skinless chicken and turkey and still high in iron and protein.
Mushroom Smothered Ostrich Burgers
1 lb Ground Ostrich Meat
1/2 cup Onion Chopped
1/2 Cup Sliced Mushrooms
1 clove of Garlic shopped fine
Salt & Pepper
1/4 cup Worcester sauce
2 tbsp Canola Oil
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
Combine Ostrich, Onion, Garlic & Worcester sauce in large mixing bowl
Add Salt & Pepper to taste
Form into 6 burger patties.
Heat oil in frying pan
Cook patties over medium heat until done to medium (don’t over cook the ostrich)
Remove patties from pan and allow to rest
Add the can of condensed soup and the sliced mushrooms to the pan
Stir until well blended and heated (mushrooms should be just soft)
Re-add the burgers and coat with sauce mixture
Heat until everything is well reheated.
Serve over egg noodles
